Somatic Experiencing
"The body remembers what the mind forgets; it is through somatic experiencing that we can access and release stored traumatic memories." - Peter Levine
I practice Somatic Experiencing® (SE), a body-based approach that helps people gently heal from trauma by tuning into the body’s sensations and responses. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE is grounded in the understanding that trauma can become held in the body, often showing up as stress, anxiety, or physical pain.
In our work together, I support clients in developing awareness of their bodily sensations in a safe, paced way. By working with small pieces at a time and moving between comfort and discomfort, the nervous system can gradually release stored trauma without becoming overwhelmed.
Somatic Experiencing can be especially helpful for those who have experienced physical or emotional trauma, including PTSD. This approach supports the body’s natural capacity to heal and can help restore a sense of safety, resilience, and connection.
I continue to deepen my SE practice through ongoing training, consultation, and learning with leaders in the field.
